about

While praying and thinking about potential names, Raise The Bar summed up and compliments this body of work best. The statement as a title for me has two meanings;

1. Standards as a child of God. The scriptures have to be the standard for every professing Christian’s lifestyle. It’s more than just a Sunday ting or a description you use on your social media. We need to digest what the Bible teaches with humility, context, revelation from the Holy Spirit and a deep hunger for the truth and everyday encounter with God. Too many easily talk the talk but don’t even try to walk the walk. ‘Raise The Bar is saying it’s time to take Jesus seriously and change that bad narrative people are seeing. Which brings two scriptures to mind;

Philippians 3:13-14 - ‘13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.’

John 3:30 - ‘30 He must increase, but I must decrease.’

The bar needs to go way higher than carnal Christianity. I speak to myself also as I say this.

2. Pushing the levels as an artist. With every new song I write and record, I want to improve on my lyricism, delivery, flow, the sound quality and clarity in my vocals. At the same time, I want to make the message as plain as possible. With these new songs, I personally feel like there has been progress and even after this EP, the process will only continue.

All proceeds of this EP will go towards the making of my screenwriting-directorial debut film Let It Rise.
